Origin:

Kivu Blossom originates from the fertile lands surrounding Lake Kivu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This region’s rich volcanic soil and favorable climate conditions contribute to the unique flavor profile of the coffee. The Nyamasasa Washing Station, founded in 2021, partners with over 1,900 local farmers who cultivate coffee on small plots, ensuring meticulous care and attention to each cherry harvested.

Processing Method:

The coffee undergoes a washed processing method at the Nyamasasa Washing Station. After hand-picking, the cherries are depulped and fermented to remove the mucilage. The beans are then washed and dried at the wet mill before being sent to the Jumbo Safari Dry Mill in Goma for sorting and further preparation. This meticulous process enhances the coffee’s clarity and bright flavor notes.

Flavor Profile:

Kivu Blossom offers a harmonious blend of flavors, featuring prominent notes of cherry and floral undertones, complemented by hints of lime and pear. The above-average body provides a satisfying mouthfeel, while the balanced acidity adds a refreshing brightness to each sip. This coffee is ideal for those who appreciate a complex and fruity profile.

Brewing Recommendations:

To fully appreciate the nuanced flavors of Kivu Blossom, it is recommended to brew using methods that highlight its clarity and brightness. Pour-over techniques, such as the V60 or Chemex, are excellent choices. Use water heated to approximately 200°F (93°C) and a medium grind size. A coffee-to-water ratio of 1:16 will yield a balanced cup. Adjust the grind size and ratio to suit personal taste preferences.

Why Choose This Coffee?

Kivu Blossom is more than just a delightful coffee; it represents a commitment to quality and sustainability. By supporting over 1,900 smallholder farmers in the Lake Kivu region, this coffee contributes to the economic development of local communities.
